Memorial Day Celebrations In Greenville SC

Memorial Day is an annual day of remembrance for the men and women who died while serving the United States of America. The federal holiday was originally called Decoration Day and though many people have the day off from work, there are events across the country to honor those who gave their lives. Here is a short list of just a few events that you may wish to attend.
- On Saturday, May 27, First Baptist Church
of Mauldin (150 S. Main Street) will host Freedom Realized, a
concert by Upstate Winds Concert Band. The performance begins at 7 p.m. A free
dinner will also be served. 7 PM –
8:30 PM
Event details: The concert is free, and dinner will be served in the fellowship hall.
- Greenville County and the Joint Veterans Council will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday. That event will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the Greenville Veterans Memorial Monument at County Square. The Upstate Senior Concert Band and Clearview Singers will perform at the ceremony. There will also be speakers who served in various wars. Hot dogs will be served compliments of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
- Carolina Triathlon will host its First Annual Memorial Day Ride to benefit the Green Beret Foundation – This bicycle ride held Monday morning will honor those who’ve lost their lives in service and their families. The event will include three rides of varying distances. Each will start and finish at Carolina Triathlon (123 Welborn Street). There will be a cookout following the rides. Cost to participate is $20.
